Wolverhampton boosted their survival hopes with the narrow win over Tottenham but they now face an uphill task against wounded Chelsea. The Blues were lucky not to have slipped from the Premiership summit after losing at Goodison Park but another slip-up would surely see them drop to the second place in the standings. Impressive win over Tottenham Wolverhampton produced quite a coup by taking all six points off Tottenham this season after beating them 1:0 at Molineux and the win could be just the boost they needed to turn the season around.
Chelsea suffered a big blow to their title ambitions having lost to Everton in midweek and Carlo Ancelotti will be looking for a response from his players. Cardiff, on the other hand, continued their push for promotion with the 2:0 win over Peterborough and the Bluebirds are now looking to make life difficult for Chelsea.
Everton will feel hard done by after losing the Merseyside derby despite being the better team and the Toffees are in for another difficult task. They now play host to leaders Chelsea, who boosted their title hopes by defeating Arsenal at Stamford Bridge but with United breathing down their necks, the Blues will have to try and win this game as well.
Chelsea are in danger of being overthrown from the Premiership summit after picking up just one point from the Hull game and they have to try and beat Arsenal in order to remain at the top.
Burnley lost their third successive game under new boss Brian Laws and as we have predicted, they are now in the relegation zone. The Clarets are likely to stay there after this round since we cannot really expect them to get something from the game with high-flying Chelsea.
Chelsea aim to return to the Premiership summit with the win over high-flying Birmingham but they will surely not have an easy task. The London Blues are in very good form having won last four games in all competitions but so are Alex McLeish’s side, who are unbeaten since October. Having said that, we expect a thoroughly exciting affair at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea need the three points from this match in order to remain at the Premiership summit but they will not have an easy job as everyone expect them to. Sunderland have had a lot of problems lately but they are still a very good side that will be difficult to break at Stamford Bridge. Coping with the African Cup of Nations Chelsea remained at the top of the standings after the hectic Christmas schedule and if the Blues can remain there when their players return from African Nations Cup, then they will have virtually won the title
Chelsea continued with under-par performances as they were held by Birmingham to a goalless draw and another slip-up would probably see them leave the Premiership summit. Fulham, on the other hand, missed a chance to beat Tottenham but they will, nevertheless, be encouraged by the very good performance against the top 4 contenders. One win in five games The poor run of form is threatening to ruin Chelsea’s good start of the season and Carlo Ancelotti’s side need to quickly rediscover their form or risk losing the favourites’ tag in the title race.
Chelsea have beaten Bolton 4:0 in the Carling Cup game on Wednesday and the Blues are looking for another win that would see them remain at the top of the Premiership.
Porto have the chance to cement the second place in the standings with two wins over APOEL, although the Cypriots have already proved they were a tough nut to crack.
