Juventus won in Amsterdam and although the Italian press is now praising their performance claiming Juventus are coming back on the winning track, we are still not impressed.
This is undoubtedly the derby of this Europa League round.
Juventus have forgotten what it means to win and it was so evident nun Livorno when they were absolutely clueless. We have already voiced our concerns before claiming the problem was not he manager and we don’t think that Zaccheroni, with all due respect, will make any significant change. The team is without a real, classic, towering striker, Amauri was simply lucky and he is not the Juventus material.
Both sides took a point from the last round, having played two identical 1:1 games with their rivals. However, Livorno can be more than pleased with their point against Milan and we can’t say Juvetnus were very happy with their point. They failed to beat Lazio, 4th place is getting further and further away from them although they still have chances to grab the hold on it.
Inter are once again safely distanced from their nearest rivals. Namely, that city derby win has earned them +9, and although Milan are with a game in hand, neroazzuri seem unstoppable at the moment
One after another, defeats are notching up and many people can’t remember when was the last time Juventus looked this bad. First the Champions League elimination, then the 4th place is getting further and further away, and then even the Cup loss on Thursday. After the last one, Ferrara was sacked, Alberto Zaccheroni will be leading this team until the end of the season when Rafa Benitez is supposedly coming.
Roma’s huge victory in Torino has cemented their third seat leaving Juvetnus at safe distance. Also, Claudio Ranieri got his sweet revenge
During the week, Lazio got eliminated from the Cup and it is evident now they won’t be able to defend the last year’s title in this competition. To be honest, with everything that’s going on with this club, we don’t think that the Cup loss to Fiorentina will hit them that tragically. Lazio have put up their performances a notch lately having won seven points out of last four games, but that Bergamo knockout brought all the old problems back
Coppa Italia is not very important competition, at least for the big Italian clubs but as you probably already know, this is the last chance for Juve coach Ciro Ferrara, who doesn’t have too many options with so many players on the sidelines. Napoli, on the other hand, have hit the ground running immediately after Mazzari replaced Donadoni but they are sitting in 4th place in Serie A and are, therefore, much more concentrated on the league game against Palermo than this match.
Fiorentina ran through Siena having thus approached the fourth place with one game in hand. The objective is to get as closer to the top as they can before Champions League continues, to keep safe from injuries as much possible since there are not too many alternatives available.
